Thanks to support from the Audencia Foundation, Juliette Nizri Bidon, a student at Audencia, was able to complete a six-month internship in Bangkok, Thailand, at UNESCO’s Southeast Asia Regional Office, in the Division of Social and Human Sciences.

I completed my internship in Bangkok, Thailand.
How long did it last? In which sector did you complete your internship?
It lasted 6 months, in the cultural sector. More specifically, I worked in the Humanities and Social Sciences Division at UNESCO, in the Southeast Asia Regional Office.
What did you take away from this experience on a personal, academic, or professional level?
On a personal level, this was the continuation of a long-term goal I’d had: to complete my entire education abroad without ever taking a plane. After more than a year traveling through Africa, the Middle East, and Central Asia, I crossed China by land to reach Thailand and finally settle in one place for the medium term.
This internship was an extremely formative experience and allowed me to gain entry into the United Nations system, where I was also able to secure my next internship, which makes it easier for me to launch a career in the nonprofit and humanitarian sectors.
I had the opportunity to work closely with all departments within the office, regional offices around the world, UNESCO’s Directorate-General, and ministries in Africa, Asia, and the Americas on issues related to the ethics of artificial intelligence. I gained a deeper understanding of the UN system, diplomacy, and the international development sector, as well as cross-functional skills related to project and event management.
